The area was inundated by landslides that made the paths of the first leg of the journey impassable. As it is no longer possible to pass the Hermitage of Montepaolo, we have moved the stage to the opposite side, starting from Rocca San Casciano, which allows us to maintain these logistics: The pilgrim usually arrives at the Dovadola Refuge in the afternoon, sleeps in the “Benedetta Bianchi Porro” Refuge and the next day, by bus (n. 127) *, reaches the Rocca San Casciano terminus in 12 minutes; where the pilgrimage begins. 1st stages: Rocca S. Casciano – Premilcuore …. 18.00km 2nd stage: Premilcuore – Corniolo… Km 18.00 In this way, only the first stage is omitted, the rest of the classic route is retained. () Timetable on weekdays: 06:53 / 08:03, while on public holidays there is only a morning run at 10:48. Who has good strength, manages to complete the stage normally, for the others? .. the hospitalero will take him to the start of the stage. ROCCA S.CASCIANO- PREMILCUORE Take the bus from Dovadola to Rocca San Casciano, at the terminus the slightly uphill path begins on an asphalt road and follow the signs; after 1.5 km there is a small ford, if it is not crossable, return to the road and continue following the SAN DONNINO sign, which will take you back to the marked path. At Km 4.3 you come to the crossroads for San Donnino. Those who want to visit the church are 150 meters away from the crossroads and there is also a spring. Continuing on CAI path 431 we first find Bifolco (km 5.2) and shortly after at the crossroads we turn right and at the next crossroads (km 6.7) we turn left leaving path 431 to follow CAI 401 which will lead up to to Monte Orlando (km 12.1). We continue on the panoramic ridge passing first the rural church (Le Zuccherelle), Monte Vecchio, Monte della Serra, and shortly after M. Orlando; Continue on the CAI path 343 among the pines towards the plains, in about 50 minutes you pass Casalino, Casetta, Rio dei Campi downhill and reach the asphalted road at the bottom of the valley; after a kilometer turn left onto the ponteet in 15 minutes you reach the refuge in Via di Roma next to the visitor center.
