Via Francigena – on the path of Saint Francis

2025 Anniversary - Rome Walk camino

On the Assisi Way you reach Assisi via the Via degli Eremi and then continue on the Francigena of Francis in honor of the apostles Peter and Paul.

You can start the Assisi Way from Dovadola, or alternatively from Florence or Bologna or from other refuges located along the route

The first stretch, where you walk along the immaculate paths of the Cammino di Assisi, is the most attractive both from a naturalistic point of view and because of the spiritual places, as it includes many hermitages dating back to the 2nd millennium where Western mysticism was born, such as in Camaldoli. The others refer to Saint Francis and Saint Anthony, who led the Church out of medieval insignificance and who, at this moment, accompany the pilgrim in search of the Holy Spirit within us. Saint Francis was called “Old Christ”, while Anthony was his missionary.

- Hermitage Camaldoli... First hermitage founded on Western mysticism of the 2nd millennium.
- Hermitage of La Verna... The most sacred place where Francis received the stigmata
- Hermitage of la Casella ...built on the ridge where Francis said goodbye to La Verna for the last time
- Hermitage of Montecasale ... founded directly by Francis, a little pearl.
- Hermitage of San Pietro del Vigneto ... ancient hospital for walkers and pilgrims
- Eremo delle Carceri ... the place where the disciples of Francis meet in Assisi.

We reach Assisi with its magic, which today has been called "The Spirit of Assisi" by the Popes!!!!

You can take the Assisi Way from Dovadola (Forlì), Camaldoli or from Florence and along the paths of the route you can see the stages: Etapy

For the Assisi Way, the pilgrim's pass is issued, the guide in Englis, the list of the shelters and the GPX files to have the route on your mobile phone, the "pilgrim's rope" and the logo of the Way, while for the Franciscan Via Francigena, provided the GPX files, pilgrim's pass and the list of the shelters.
