The pilgrimage is the oldest expression of religiousness, known and practised both by Christians and by believers of other religions. For the Church it is a valid way of human promotion and evangelisation, for the strong calling that it exerts even on non practising people..

Stop 1B Dovadola - Portico
Starting from “Benedetta Bianchi Porro” Refuge, you leave the town of Dovadola, take the main road (s.s.) (please, pay attention!) on the left, go on for 200 m, turn left at the “Dovadola” signpost. The first climb of the way starts here, go up to the saint mountain: it will tiring but you will get a lot of satisfaction! After a well deserved stop and a pleasant conversation with Franco, you can go on turning left at the first fork on the ridge, pass over Monte Busca and go down the asphalt road to Portico, following the signposts. At the fork turn right towards Querciolano, go down till you reach a stone carriage road (after the agriturismo “La Montanara”) with the indication “Laghi” (“Lakes”), that becomes a dirt track in the final part. Continue along the asphalt road and in a short time you arrive in Portico (about 10 minutes). Cross the main road (s.s.), reach the Old Convent where you will be welcomed by Mrs Marisa. You are strongly advised to take sufficient water and food for the day: you will leave one village in the morning and you will only reach the next one in the evening. You walk in the middle of an incontaminate nature. So this is the rule to follow in all the stops of the Appennines. Home |
.. “To my brother Anthony, my bishop, I wish good health. I approve of your teaching theology to the monks, but only on condition that, owing to this study, you will not dampen the spirit of the holy prayer and devotion, as it is ordained in the Rule. Be well” Francis . “Here, on earth, the eye of the soul is Love, the only valid one to overcome any veil. Wherever the intellect stops, love proceeds with its own colour to the union with God” Saint Anthony from Padua, Sermone
